Research Overview

There is a strong research ethos with many staff having outstanding international research records. We also provide an environment which enables all staff to maximise their research potential.

The School has attracted considerable sums of external research funding for our specialist centres from sources such as the Scottish Executive and SHEFC DevR. Other School members from the Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, Social Work and Housing, Policy and Practice subject groups have been remarkably successful in raising external research funding including several grants from ESRC programmes, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the Nuffield Foundation, the Scottish Executive, Scottish Homes and the European Commission.
