Dr Richard Ward is speaking today at MICRA/The Hair and Care Project Academic Conference: Appearance, Ageing and the Life Course in Manchester, today, 26th April 2013
The conference is called Appearance, Ageing and the Life Course and brings together a number of speakers working in the field of ageing and cultural gerontology. We’ve got a great mix of papers that look at topics as wide ranging as shoes, clothing, hairdressing and family resemblances. The conference is intended to open up thinking on ageing and appearance and to explore what appearance means to people as they age and the different ways in which ageing is negotiated at the level of the body through the work that people invest in their appearance.
